Once again, if this get's too confusing, just comment or note me and I'll try and clarify. I hope the photos aren't too small. I tried to get closeups when the skin started getting detailed. Either way, I hope this helps!
The Markers I used are:
Light Peach
Salmon Pink
Peach
Light Tan
Dark Umber
Colorless blender
I've used Eggshell over skin before, too, but that tends to make the skin too yellow. You can mess with it if you want to. Either way, best of luck to you all!
Alright! I give! I will use my damn markers! Curse you and your tutorials! However, since I'm terrified of failure, I need some more information. What paper do you color on? I have really nice copic marker paper that my mom bought, but there are two sides (one's a tiny bit shinier and there is a curve to the paper) and I don't know which to use. Also, do you ink with marker too? Your line widths are gorgeous (still haven't gotten the hang of that) and I don't want to screw up what I have with a colorless blender since I currently use Copic liners. I've heard you can scan and then print the line art onto the paper, but I've never tried it. I suppose I would use the computer lab's laser printer since I have an ink jet. Anyway.
I really do want to try markers, but I'm scared to screw everything royally. I know that you'll never be as happy with printer paper as you will be with marker paper, but I don't want to spend a ton of time outlining a pic only to color it and ruin it.

I use either my multipurpose drawing journal or Deleter manga paper. Manga paper you can buy at the bookstore. So long as it has a smooth surface and doesn't bleed, you're good. Computer paper will work, too, surprisingly, but manga paper doesn't bleed through as badly and holds the color better.
Use the copic paper! For the love of god! There you go! I don't know how that paper behaves, though. Try using two colores to blend in the corner of both sides of the paper to see which side behaves better. I want copic paper! Lol.
I used a Copic liner for this (Size .35). What I do is add all the little contours after doing an initial outline. Wherever the skin folds under or there's a shadow, I generally add onto the line to make it thicker, sometimes doubling or tripling the line depending (like under the chin there's a thick line).
Yeah, you can print out the lineart, too. Prismacolors are okay with that. I use an ink-jet printer, just make sure the ink's dry (but that kinda goes without saying). They run a bit of a risk with smudging, but with my Baraquijal picture (from a while back), I had major problems with using pen nib-and-ink not working with the marker. Do NOT do line art with Pennib and an ink well! I nearly killed that one picture, well, I killed the original.
Sorry, this was a little wordy I hope it helps. Start with a picture you don't care if you ruin or not. That's probably best. Anywho, I'd like to see what you come up with. Even if you don't like markers, your CG work is really good
Art Media is a great place You get a 10% discount if you show them your student discount! Plus, because they specialize, they're cheaper than Michaels or places like that. They are pricey, though.
Most basic of the basic is $25 for a 12 marker set, I think. If you looks up Art Media Art supply store in Oregon on Google, you should be able to find the website. It's a rather nice website, might I add If you go to LaSalle, an Art Media is within walking distance. It's right by Arby's and Office Max. You can sign up to get their add, too, if you wanted.
As you can tell, I went there alot That, and I worked at Michaels for quite some time, too.

Any ballpark figure for a base/basic set?
